At the core of the upgraded application is Tara, reimagined as a multimodal artificial intelligence assistant designed to plan, book, and execute travel-related tasks on behalf of users. Unlike conventional chatbot systems, Tara is embedded directly into the application’s core interface and is capable of managing complex, intent-driven queries. Users can interact with the assistant naturally in English through voice, text, or touch inputs, including communication in Hindi or Hinglish.
The application introduces a feature called Trip Mode, which consolidates all post-booking travel information into a single interface. This includes boarding passes, gate information, baggage belt updates, and real-time travel alerts. Trip Mode also provides recommendations on optimal departure times for airports based on live traffic conditions and delivers personalized content suggestions during ongoing journeys, ensuring continuous traveler support at every stage.
Tara extends beyond traditional search filters by interpreting detailed user prompts such as requests for hotels in Dubai featuring infinity pools and views of the Burj Khalifa. It also responds to contextual and emotional inputs, including personal situations, to deliver tailored assistance and recommendations. The assistant proactively tracks flight schedules, provides timely updates, and supports users in managing travel requirements, including ongoing assistance functions.
Ixigo also introduced Agentic Travel Flows, a system in which artificial intelligence agents autonomously execute travel-related tasks in the background. These agents can send boarding passes directly to WhatsApp, update digital wallets such as Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, and coordinate with hotels in advance of guest check-in. They continuously monitor flight schedules, issue alerts in case of delays, and handle refund-related processes seamlessly. All agent-driven features remain opt-in, ensuring users retain full control over their data and decisions.
Speaking at the launch, Group Co-Chief Executive Officer Rajnish Kumar and Group Chief Executive Officer Aloke Bajpai stated that the new AI-native application represents a reimagining of travel as a conversational, intuitive, and deeply personalized experience powered by artificial intelligence. They emphasized that the future of travel will be driven by agent-based systems capable of understanding intent, performing proactive actions, and supporting travelers seamlessly before, during, and after their journeys.
The development marks a significant shift in digital travel services, positioning Ixigo at the forefront of AI-driven transformation in the travel technology sector.
